New to this forum, but have been on prostate cancer forum. These last 3 years have been hard, been through breast cancer with my mom, lost her last year, kidney cancer with mother in law and she is still hanging in there, then in October husband was diagnoses with prostate cancer and had surgery, gleason 8, and 3 weeks ago my father was diagnosed with colon cancer and it was in such a place and orange size that he had to have surgery and a colostomy (?not sure of spelling) bag was put in for the rest of his life. Now he is going for a stint? I thought it would be a pick, and then has to have chemo and then radiation treatments. But yet I was told they got it all to their knowledge and his lymph glands came back negative also. Is this a just in case treatment. I worry to that 1 1/2 years after treatment and they got it all with my mother, she went downhill quick. I was told that it takes this long to see side effects of the chemo?
Sorry my head is spinning, still questions on hubbys cancer and now my Dads cancer.

Any help appreciated.

Oh my, sanjis. You must feel overwhelmed! Sad I am so very sorry that you are having to deal with so much cancer in your life. I just want to remind you that you and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sanjis,

I do hope you can ask some of these questions of the Doctor yourself.
I would say that it is very good that your Dad's lymph nodes were negative. Do you know what stage they have diagnosed your Dad?

If they are going to give him radiation and/or chemo after he has had the tumor out - remember it is to keep those cancer cells from spreading. They plan to do it to me after my tumor is removed too, and I am glad, I want to be sure they do whatever may work to keep it from coming back.

Everyone is different, your Mom and Dad have different cancers, are probably different ages and with different backgrounds, we all respond differently. What happened to your Mom may not be what happens with your Dad.

You certainly have a lot to deal with, how are you managing?
Please keep posting, the people on this forum are so helpful, and there are several folks with colon cancer who can answer questions.

Hang in there and do everything you can to keep reading so you can support those who you love.

im really sorry to hear that sanjis.

I could never know how terrible the feeling is to have just one member of my family have cancer; let alone 3-4. I wish you and your family members well and hope that your husband and father come through it alright.
