Hi all
I have been reading all your comments on various stories of cancer.
My husband has stage 4 colon cancer with mets in liver, in fact his liver is riddled with it... He was diagnosed just 12 months ago. He had chemo and it worked for a while then he got serious side effects and they said they would give him a break from it,Well during that time the liver got worse and the cancer grown bigger and more tumors.

He has been going down hill every since, his symptoms now are hes very tired, hes lost weight hes not too bad at eatting but feels sick all the time and eats to try and ease that,he vomits sometimes too, but most of the time s hes dry reaching..His main problem is high fevers ??? hes been in and out of hospital 4 times in this last month and they have done every test possible to find an infection and all the test have been negative.
So they pump him with antibiotic and hope it cures what every it is..it settle ( the fevers) enough to send him home 2 weeks ago and he was due to have chemo again tomorrow..but all this week hes had high fevers again... and of course hes now back in hospital on more antibiotic.. and no chemo...hes very distressed about this...
Is there anyone out there that the same thing has happened too ??? or If someone can advise me if this is what happens when hes getting to the end...like a lot of you that have wrote in to ask the questions... what sign do we get when they are near rthe end.. what symptoms ???
I noticed a few have said that they have to have fluid pumped from them.. is this a common things for patients with livers mets ???
Does it happen to every one... Rolling Eyes
I just wish I knew what was happening... its so frustrating not knowing whats going to happen next...
I would love to hear from anyone who has gone through it and nursed a loved oner through colon cancer with mets to liver and explain to me, what to expect... PLEASE
Regards Trysha[/b]

Hi Trysha. I am very sorry about your husband's cancer. I wish I had a Crystal ball and could predict exactly what is going to happen to your husband. As is, I really do not know. You should discuss this with his medical team.

Often, as the tumors in a liver start to impact the liver's function, toxins start to build up in the body. This in turn leads to a lot of other problems such as generalized weakness, tired all the time, decreased appetite, etc.

From what you are telling us, I do not personally think this is the time to give up. Try to continue to find ways of enjoying the time he still has left. I know that it will be hard on you and your husband, but you can always find ways to enjoy life. It might not be anything more than listening to music together, but if that brings joy, do it. Visits by family and friends also helped me through my sickest days in the hospital. I do not think I was great company for my visitors, but it did mean a lot for them to come.

You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers.
