Hello, I hope this post is not out of place. I have been experiencing bleeding during bowel movement for the past 5 years. As an uninsured college student, I never went to see the doctor until this summer (I'm 34). He did a digital exam and found that I have several internal hemroids, but wants to do a colonoscopy to be sure that's all it is.
I go in this Friday for a consolation for the colonoscopy and I have this overwhelming fear. My bleeding can be, what appears to be, pretty severe, turning the toilet dark red from dripping. And sometimes, there is a decent-sized glob of blood on the toilet tissue on my first pass to clean up. If I have heavy bleeding, the toilet tissue is soaked with bright red blood and I have to sit there with toilet tissue trying to get the bleeding to stop... much like you do with a bleeding nose.
I dont have any pain, excessive gas or cramps and my bowel movements are normal for the most part. And, like I said, this has been going on for a little over 5 years now. Sometimes nothing but most of the time bleeding.
If I dont have any blood in the toilet, at the very least there is usually bright red streaks on the feces.
Man, I have a beautiful, newly-expecting (7 weeks) wife and a wonderful 2 year old daughter. The thought of have this terrible disease is keeping me up at night and making me mad with anxiety. Any words of advice would be very comforting. Thank you for listening and for all of you fighting - you are in my thoughts and prayers. |

| We will all be rooting for you. This kind of fear is so awful, but at least something is being done. Let us know the results. I will be thinking of you. |

Hi Brian, I am very sorry about your health concerns. It is good that you are going to have a colonoscopy to make sure it is not something other than hemroids. I hope that is what it is. It sounds like a lot of bleeding and that is usually a sign of hemroids... at least I am wishing that for you.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

I had my colonoscopy Friday morning and it was negative. I have several LARGE hemroids (to paraphrase the doctor).
Thank you so much for allowing me to voice my worries and the kind words.
For all of you fighting, your bravery is inspiring and you are in my thoughts. |

Wonderful news [relatively] - so glad it is not the nasty you feared, and good luck with your treatment |
