It's nearly Christmas, and I can't stop worrying about how my kids are going to see Santa this year. Usually we go to the mall, but with Avery almost constantly in the hospital, I don't think will be able to get her to visit Santa Claus, and I feel bad about taking Aaron without her.
I know that Aaron would tell her all about it, and she would feel sad about not being able to go. I was talking to another mom at the hospital, and she said that she had Santa call her son up on the telephone and talk to him about what he wanted for Christmas, whether he was naughty or nice, and other things.
When she was talking about the telephone call, you could really see that her face lit up, and that it was a real success. She arranged the telephone call, but when I looked at their site, I decided that we are going to get a video calls. I can just bring my laptop into the hospital room, set it up, and use the wireless Internet to connect to Skype.
This is a great idea for my situation, because the family can stay together and visit Santa together. I kind of feel really bad when Avery doesn't get to do something just because she's in the hospital. Plus, with this, we can videotape the whole experience, and relive it over and over again.
Sure, I wish that my family could go to the mall together and were healthy enough to enjoy the whole Christmas season together, but getting a video call from Santa is going to save one of our Christmas traditions. We can still do a lot of the things we usually do at Christmas time, and visiting Santa is no exception. |

Alot of hospitals here in Australia, have Santa come see the kids in hospital. Maybe see with the hospital when and where there is a Santa there. - If not- a Santa suit and a bag of lollipops do wonders.
That way they both can see the same Santa. And with all the other mothers and children there, This also gives a bonding to one family to another family, parent to parent. A time to share and laugh together, to forget if just for a few minutes.
I'm sure between all of the mothers and fathers and staff- something can be worked out. Alot of shopping malls , stores etc, will donate gifts or lollies etc, If there is no Hospital Santa- let me know how it goes..
