Hey, I'm scared about whether I might have cancer or not.

I am a male in the U.S.-

In the past week a lump has formed in my anal region, I read that a symptom of anal cancer is a lump in that area. This is the first time anything has happened there, I've never had swelling there before.

I also read a large cause of anal cancer is sexual intercourse in the anal region and I have never done that, but I;'m still worried, any advice or information would be appreciated.

Hello

A lump in the anal area can be a sign of cancer, however this most likely represents a hemorrhoid, which is by far more common than anal cancer. Regardless, you should be examined by a physician and have this evaluated.

About the higher risk of anal cancer with anal intercourse, it is because of infection by HPV.
