My Father just turned 57 years old. Smoked for years (quit 5 yrs ago) and drank alcohol fairly often.

Starting in June or July throwing up and by the middle of September he had dropped so much weight and had such a hard time eating he knew something was wrong.

October 8 stint was placed in his esophogus to allow swollowing.

We had done tons of research and have him taking a whole list of supplements.

October 19 he says he is actually feeling better Very Happy

Chemo is scheduled to start next Wednesday. Originally was to be CPT11 and Sysplatnum or Oxyplatnum (forgive my spelling doctor talks fast).
I did go on that appointment with the Oncologist.

My Mom said when the office called to scedule it has been changed to one week an iv treatment and the next week a patch that is time release and that Friday it is removed. Doctor had done more research said that sounded better to use in this case.

The office said for income under $75,000 per year they can get all the Chemo drugs free. Yay one less thing to worry about. I have been told you can get AFLAC Insurance after you are diagnosed with cancer so we will check into that shortly.

Stacy, I am sorry about your father's cancer. It does sound like he is getting the standerd treatment. Let us know how the surgery goes. Have they said anything about chemotherapy after the surgery?
