Instead of waiting until all my hair falls out in clumps, I decided to shave it. I have a friend who's a professional photographer who allowed my husband to shave it in his studio. He took quite a few pictures using different filters and lighting.
I decided to try and feel extra sexy by wearing a lacy dress, high heels and full make-up. We played music and joked, while our friend photographed it all.
I feel very empowered by being able to choose when and how I lost my hair. Can't wait till the pictures are developed. |

Hi,
Yes, it does feel good to have some control over it.
My hubby and I went out into the garage and he shaved it. I also brought a little hand-held mirror with me. I was afraid to look at first! I looked and thought......not too shabby! LOL
Sounds like you're doing well -- good for you! You turned a stressful experience into a pretty positive one.
Hugs,
Margie |

Dear FiddleDeDe,
It is great to hear that you are actively controlling the situation and feel empowered. I think nothing is more important than a strong spirit when fighting cancer.
Good Luck,

FiddleDeDE,
I did that too when I first noticed my hair coming out although I didn't do it to that extreme...I wish I had thought of that. It sounds like a blast. I just woke my husband up...it was midnight and I wasn't willing to wait another second and he buzzed my hair off. It was a great relief to me. _________________ Shelly

Well Shelly, I'm starting to see the benefits now. Trimming hair back any amount helps when the hair falls out. I'm shedding stubble on my head like crazy which is preferrable to having long hair all over my pillow and in the shower drain. _________________ Age 37
