I need to know of any signs of breast cancer besides a lump? I am 31 years old and for the past two weeks I have been experiencing pain in my right breast. I thought it would have went away by now but it hasn't. I'm experiencing a pain and soreness on the top part of my right breast in the area right below my arm pit. I don't feel any lump but I haven't really did a good check because to be honest with you, I am scared to death to check.
Is there any other signs and is breast pain and soreness one of the signs?

Hi bridgette,
As a man, maybe I should let a woman answer your question. In my professional experience with women who had breast cancer, I really to not remember pain being one of the first symptoms. Usually, when pain was involved, it was when a woman waited too long before going to a doctor. Having said that, GO SEE A DOCTOR ASAP. I can only imagine how frightening it must be to think you have breast cancer. However, the option seems pretty clear to me. It may only be a pulled muscle but why take the risk? And why live with this pain of unknown origin?
God be with you. Let us know what you find out. _________________ Jim

I do so agree with Jim - fear is far worse than knowing. Go and see your doctor.
Most breast cancers do not present through pain and a strain is very possible. However, we are all different so it's far better to be sure than to live in discomfort and fear. |

Thank you so much for your replies. If anybody else can respond I would appreciate it.
I did do a thorough check lastnight and I did not feel any lump. It just hurts so bad that the soreness is on my mind every minute of the day. It just feels like there is something in there.

| I hope someone else will respond, but I must emphasise that if you have any doubts, you must go to the doctor. Pain is an insidious beast, and is fed by stress and fear. |

Hi Bridgette, just one more comment about going to see a doctor: Even if the pain has nothing to do with cancer, why not go to a doctor? At the very least he/she can give you medication to help with the pain! _________________ Jim

Bridgette, breast cancer can present itself in many forms. Remember this is your breast and you know whats normal and whats normal with it, this is obviously causing you discomfort so as others have said make an appointment with your doctor, it can do no harm.
Best wishes and let us know how you get on !!!! _________________ MAXIMISE |

Bridgette,
Concur with most of what has already been said. Breast cancer doesn't usually cause pain until in later stages. Any unusual symptoms you are experiencing need to be evaluated by a medical team. Good luck. _________________ RLee, MD
