For those of you that had night sweat and fevers before being diagnosed, how exactly were they. Were they drenching and everynight? Were the fevers constant or sporadic?

I have seen multiple doctors for intermittant fever and other symtoms for the lst 2-3 years. No one has been able to figure out what is wrong. (I have seen two internal medicine docs and an ID doctor).

Two years ago I had a gallium scan, then a follow up ct scan. All negative. Last year I started getting fevers again around March. They would come, go up to 101-102, fever, aches, chills flu like symtoms. Everything was back to normal by the next day. I have also noticed night sweats again. (I had them in 2005 as well)

I go to bed at 9:00 and wake up around 11:00 (my 2 year old crys). I am bone dry. I go back to sleep and wake up at 3:00 a.m. I am sweating back of neck, jest legs etc. But I am not hot. It is not drenching but I can tell I have been sweating. Go back to sleep. Wake up at 5:00 and I am bone dry.

Anyway, I have been really worried about this for 2 years. I have had the fevers for about 3. (Off and on) I have had numberous blood tests. My cell counts are normal, no lupus, lyme, arthritis, rocky mountain spotted fever, or anythign like that. it is frustrating and scary.

I have noticed it is worse int he springtime and had an allergy test last year that was negative. I also have lost weight but have been exersicing and watching what i eat for the past several years.

Hello Stryped,

I am no medical expert and I'm not sure if you already have [had] cancer but my husband has these 'hot flushes' and loss of weight and just like you he has not yet been diagnosed. However, they [many doctors!] are saying he has 'Carcinoid Syndrome'. Look it up on the web to see if your symptoms are similar. I really don't want to scare you at all but the doctors are saying there has to be a cause- but we need to find it. They say they're looking for a small 'tumour' perhaps on his adrenal gland.

The hot flushes for him do come mostly at night but do not encite sweating which is characteristic of the syndrome. He just is red in the face and uncomfortable. I'm not sure if you are female or male but my hot flushes caused by Aromasin [Breast Cancer mets] are all day and night and I do perspire badly. Mine are different.

Great couple aren't we? Hoping you soon get a diagnosis and that it is a simple 'cure'. Do be in touch if I can help further.

All the best, keep smiling.
