I am worried and unsure, my daughter who has only just turned 16, just told me she has a lump. I felt it, it is the size of a small egg. I asked her why she hadnt noticed it before, to which she said she just didnt.
How often do cancerous lumps occur in teenagers?

| It is far more likely to be a cyst. Have your doctor check it out. Much better than worrying about it. |

Agree with Vee's post. Have it evaluated by a health professional. This may includ imaging or an ultrasound. Best wishes,

Thank you both for your quick answers. We, sorry she saw a gynaecologist on Friday morning and we have an appointment for an ultrasound and mammo on Monday morning.
The doctor seemed to think that it might be a cyst because of her age, but the fact that both the mammo and ultrasound are so soon says something different to me. Perhaps it is because the lunp is so large.
Anyway Thank yoou again.

We were told that the lump is in fact a tumour, but thankfully it isnt cancer. Apparently it has been caused by hormones, and she may have it for a long time. They dont wont to remove it unless it grows anymore or starts to hurt.

Cheri - so glad it's benign. Such a relief all round.
primstar - perhaps you have the same problem. Go and check it out with your doctor. |
