Sam stared oxaliplatin and xeloda on Thursday and the hiccups began today. Not regular hiccups, big violent "shake the bed" hiccups.

We've tried all the home remedies and the Family Doc ( who generously gave us his cell phone # with instructions to call anytime) called in an rx for aciphex and chlorpromazine. While Sam has so far not reported any of the weird side effects of the chlorpromazine, it hasn't helped either.

Any ideas? Please help. He is so uncomfortable. Reenie

Hi, I think there was an earlier thread on hiccups? Don't know whether there were any answers on that. It is heartbreaking to see various symptoms appear, and not get much help from anybody, especially the medical help, which would actually make a difference. But the support we as family members can provide is invaluable, I know my dad appreciated everything we did for him, even though physically nothing seemed to help. Spend time with your dad, you will draw strength from each other. Thinking of you and your family.

yes, there was something on hiccups but no real answers-often the case...
Sam is my husband, not father but what you said about the support of family applies across the board.
thanks, reenie
