Hi, can anyone give me some information. My mum was only diagnosed 2 weeks ago with NSCC. Then on Monday they told us it was also in her liver and was inoperable and offered her chemotherapy to start next week. She has gone downhill so fast in a couple of weeks it is unreal, needs help with bath, toilet etc. doesn't want to eat. Lays in bed or sits in chair.
She was very upset and agitated and not sleeping until her GP came yesterday and prescribed valium and oramorph which has calmed her down and made her happy. The doctor at the hospital, when pressed (out of mums hearing) gave a prognosis of months. I am not convinced. My brother lives at the other side of the world and wants to see her, should I be telling him to hurry.

Hi... sorry about your mom...
My mom was diagnosed with NCSLC - with liver metastasis, 8 months ago. Doctors have given us a life expectancy prognosis from 8 to 18 months, depending on how fast her liver situation would deteriorate.

Their cases seem similar. Doctors advised us to start chemotherapy and we did. At first it helped, but then the side effects were really hard on her.
My mom take strong painkillers now - morphine. She has her ups and downs.

She always feel very tired, sleeps a lot, can't eat. I think the most important thing in her case is that her spirit is still high.

Hope this helps. Feel free to pm me if you want...

Mandy
