Hi All,
I am 27 year old male. I had swelling happened below my left armpit 2 months back.I don't have any other problems like night sweating or itching.
when I found this swelling, after two weeks I consulted General surgeon. He had done FNA. Using the FNA he is not able to find out the exact problem.Doctor had done biopsy on my lymph node. After the biopsy they had done some series of tests on that sample and they come to know that I had Lymphoma.
They also done Bone marrow biopsy and bone marrow aspiration.I am waiting for the result of Bone marrow biopsy and aspiration.
I consulted doctor today,he told me I have to undergo the Chemotherapy treatment.

I have an appointment with Doctor after a couple of days.
I am feeling anxiety and tense these days once i come to know that i had Lymphoma.
I have a few doubts regarding this Lymphoma. Can anybody help me in this.

1) what exactly Doctors will give in Chemotherapy treatment? whether they will give any injections. How is the treatment? I wolud like to know about the process of treatment.

2) To undergo the Chemotherapy treatment, how many days I have to stay in the hospital or can i visit the hospital at the specific period?

Hope you can understand my situation and reply me.

Thanks & Regards
KS

It depends on the type of lymphoma you have. I have Non Hodgkins. I've had treatment, but not chemo, per say. I've had monoclonal immunotherapy (Rituxan).
There are 40 different kinds of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I'm not sure how many kinds of Hodgkins Disease there are.
For the most part, from what I understand of chemo for Non Hodgkins, it's very doable. Some people are able to go to work through their treatments. People that I know of on another forum are not admitted to the hospital for the treatments, it's outpatient. With all the medications available now, most people do not suffer from nausea. Depending on the kind of chemo you have, you may lose your hair, maybe some fatigue.
Do you know if you have non hodgkins lymphoma or hodgkins disease? I can direct you better after we know the actual diagnosis. Mine is
a low grade form called "indolent" or "follicular", CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) I was told that I have had this for 20 years before being diagnosed a year ago. I had no symptoms, except enlarged lymph nodes under my arms. My blood work has always been perfect.
I hope I've been a little help to you. Just so you know, waiting for the actual diagnosis and results of tests are the most stressful part of this disease. After you know exactly what you have, and how it will be treated, then treatments starting, the anxiety will lessen by at least half. Good luck!

I think that if u werent anxious and tense about having lymphoma it would b weird, and it doesnt help when u have no clue wots going 2 b happening with the whole process, like debbiefix said there r many types of lymphoma and they all have different ways of being treated.
when i was diagnosed in nov 2005 at 20 yrs old i was a mess and i had treatment a month later, i had my chemo treatments through an iv drip and i had those every 2 weeks for 6 months and as each one passes it gets easier on ur body. and i never stayed in hospital when i had treatments, i just stayed there for about 3 to 4 hours each time and then i would go home.. sometimes it would b more sometimes less.. it all depends on how ur feeling on the day i suppose.
what type of lymphoma do u have?
anyway i hope this answers ur question
take care

I'm 28 year old male and last year I spent eight months getting the ABVD chemo regiment for stage 3B Hodgkin's. Pretty soon I'll have to start again since it came back. I had it from my arm pits to my stomach with largest mass in my chest which is where it showed up now.

The chemo isn't bad. I was getting a pretty good dose every two weeks. You feel like crap for a week after chemo and you feel pretty good for a week before getting your next dose. It takes a couple hours to get it through an IV and you go home. You should be able to work, though you won't feel all that great like I said.

I found that if I exercised, ran, bicycle, do anything active during that week after treatment it really helped me feel not so sick. Perhaps just getting my mind off of it. If you sit around and do nothing you'll feel worse.

Chemo is simply a drug therapy. They just use certain drugs that kill fast growing cells.
