I am so sorry, justme... both with the fact that your mother has breast cancer as well as the fact that I or anyone else have responded in a timely manor. I hope you understand that most of us are dealing with cancer yourselves. That is a plus... because we know what it is like. However, it can also be a negative because there are times when we just don't feel good.
Away from the excuses and back to you and your mother. I learned a long time ago not to tell someone who had breast cancer that "I know what you are going through… (my exact words, by the way) because, I don’t. How could I? Breast cancer in men is extremely rare. And even if that were not true, I DON'T HAVE BREAST CANCER. (Sort of what the lady yelld back at me.)
What I do know is that you and your mother need a lot of support at this time. Not that breast cancer is an automatic death sentence. Far from it! It is one of the most common and most curable of all cancers. So don’t give up hope… and don’t let your mother give up either. There is a time and a place for being a cheerleader! Not always. And certainly not to tread lightly on painful feelings, but there is a time and that time is now, to say to your mother: “Mom, you know how much I love you. Together, we are going to get through this.” _________________ Jim

Have a good time with your mother… or should I say “as good as possible.” What she needs most is for her to know you love her and that the two of you will make it through this time… whatever happens.
I did not mean to make you feel bad. There are just a few of us who are currently “regulars”, so it does happen occasionally that we are not here for one reason or another. But, in time, we do try to respond in a supportive way. _________________ Jim

I am so sorry, Justme I was there when my mother took her last breath. It was not easy... but I would not change it if I could.
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. _________________ Jim

But YOU are in pain! I can "hear" it in your words. I am sorry no one is able to respond faster to your need of support. You are grieving and you need some one with whom you can share your pain. There usually not that many of us in a condition the help. I am truly sorry for your loss and for the sense that you turned here for support but have been disappointed.
There is another site that is much more active than this one. GriefNet.org is a bunch of email mailing lists dealing with various forms of grief. Check them out. At this time, they might be a better resource for you. But again, I am truly sorry and wish we could do more in terms of offering you support. _________________ Jim

justme
I am so sorry for your loss. I have not replied sooner for I have not experienced such a terrible ordeal as you have beenthrough. I have recently dealt with breast cancer and its treatments, but caught early, no metastisis. My prognosis is good.
I certainly can feel that you are in need of support at this time and I can only offer my condolences to you and your family. Try following brainmans suggestion it my be helpful.

Just me,
Too little too late comes to mind here...But also that it's never too late. I am truly deeply sorry for your loss. I'm just as sorry that I didn't add my support to Jims when you most needed it. Please take his advice and visit the recommended website. You're right, your mom is in a better place and no longer in pain. Now you can let go of her pain and focus on letting go of yours. All words seem inadequate, but I wish you the best and will pray for you. _________________ Love and Prayers
