Does anyone have any knowledge and/or experience with rising PSA and Trileptal or other anti-seizure med?

My situation: 45 y/o. For past 7 years the PSA level was 0.9 (family history so I have been tracking it). One time grand mal seizure, idiopathic origin (which means they got no clue as to why it occurred), 10 mos ago. Neurologist put me on Trileptal. One month after seizure, had my annual PSA and the level was 1.8. A couple of subsequent PSA's were at 1.8. Had needle biopsy in August, all negative.

Annual physical last week, and the PSA was 3.3 so I am having a repeat biopsy in one week.

Drug mfg co won't give up any data (assuming they have any which they may not) regarding impact of Tripleptal on PSA. The warnings indicate that if I was female, oral contraceptives would not be reliable, so there seems to be a hormonal impact.

Any other experiences or knowledge out there?

Thanks.

Hello

I haven't found any association. Is this just something you thought of, or did anyone tell you that there is a relationship ?

regards,
Dr Leo F

Just searching for answers. The rise in PSA and use of Tripleptal might be purely coincidental.

Very good. As far as I know there is no relation.
