I am a 32 yr old female smoker - approx. 10/day
3 years ago I had some chest pain and went to doc, sent me for xray and found "spot" in my right lung. A CT scan was done and it was determined the spot was scar tissue - from what we don't know. Over the course of 2 years I had 3 CT's done and nothing changed from the original - scar tissue. Last October I had bronchitis, in May I had pleurisy, a chest xray was done again - doc reported lungs were normal. Last week I had a recurring bout of pleurisy again right after a terrible cough that lasted a week or so. I have 2 children and their entire lives ahead of me that I am terrified to lose - they are babies - I can't seem to stop smoking though even being afraid is not helping. I just know I must have something wrong to continue having lung problems or I am just over 30 now and it has taken this long to feel the effects of smoking.....

any advice?

I laugh when I hear people say they?re going to quit smoking on new years and smoke like crazy the night before. Then you here them say ?well I?ve been a non-smoker for 11 minutes now.? You know they?re going to fail. Smoking relieves tension and setting a quit date builds tension and it?s the tensions and pressures that make people smoke.

Quitting smoking is easy once you really want to, here?s how to quit smoking for good using the smoking reduction method.

First, whatever you?re smoking now cut it back. It?s a lot easier then you may think. For example, if you?re smoking say 15 smokes a day that?s about 5 smokes in the morning, 5 smokes in the afternoon and 5 in the evening. We?ll call that 5/5/5. Just cut that back to say 3/3/3 and if you cheat and do 4/4/4 that?s ok, just try to cut back to 3/3/3.

After a month or two at 3/3/3 cut back to 2/2/2. Try making a game of it but don?t pressure yourself. Cut back when you feel ready too, if you really want to quit and are getting tired of having the monkey on your back it won?t be hard to do.

At some point a few months from now you?ll have cut back to between 2 to 3 smokes a day. One day you?ll wake up and just feel like becoming a non-smoker. You?ll know when you?re ready.

Finely, take me and your kids golfing with some of the money you save.

hi,

if you ever are interested in quiting i quit about 3 years ago. i was dreading it and didnt think i would cope but it was really positive and i am not one of those non smokers who is constantly dying for a fag.

i cant put the name of the place on here as i think it may be classed as advertising but if you put your email on i shall send you the info.

good luck
