I AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT MY MOM AND WOULD LIKE SOME INPUT. SHE IS A 58 YEAR OLD WOMAN THAT HAS SMOKED FOR OVER 30 YEARS SHE WAS JUST RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL TODAY. SHE HAD A AWFUL REACTION TO THE PAIN MED METHADONE WHICH SHE WAS PRESCRIBED FOR CHRONIC NERVE DAMAGE ALSO SHE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH COPD AND HAD PNEMONIA SORRY IF MY SPELLING IS WRONG ANYWAY WHILE SHE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL SHE HAD X RAYS AND A CAT SCAN DONE WHERE NOW THEY WANT TO DO A BIOPSY THEY DESCRIBED IT AS A RIGHT LUNG MASS. WHAT I AM SO WORRIED ABOUT IS I GUESS I WANT TO BE PREPARED FOR WHAT LIES AHEAD I CANT SEEM TO GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER ABOUT WHETHER THEY THINK THIS IS CANCER OR NOT. THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DO THE BIOPSY RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THEY CAN'T KEEP HER OXYGEN UP ENOUGH ANYWAY I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY IDEAS OR EXPERIENCES YOU COULD SHARE TO EITHER EASE MY MIND OR GET ME READY FOR THE LONG HAUL. EITHER WAY I WILL BE THERE FOR HER I JUST NEED TO KNOW IF I NEED TO GET PREPARED TO BE VERY STRONG FOR HER. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR INFO IN ADVANCE Sad

Hello

It seems that her COPD is advanced enough to make her respiratory status quite fragile. You will have to discuss with her and the doctors about the likelihood of this being cancer, and her eligibility for surgery if it is indeed cancer. If her COPD is bad enough, maybe she could not live after having part of her lungs resected, so that's why it is important to think ahead.

best regards,
Leo
