My father was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma a little over 3 years ago. He was then 69. Now at 72, he has been in hospital for the past 7 weeks. Initially he was kept in for a pathological fracture to his right hip. Seven weeks ago, he could still walk, now he is struggling with a zimmer frame and has fractured his right wrist due to the pressure with the frame. We're not really getting any information at all from the medical team treating him. He was actually set to be discharged on Friday when the fracture in the wrist was discovered. He cannot get to the toilet. Struggles eating his meals, and gets very confused a lot of the time. At the moment, the only long term care that would appear logical would be a nursing home. This is something I would only really want as a last resort. Would it be possible to care for him at home. Social Services have offered a total of 7 hours a week home care, and this would be just Monday to Friday. There would be no care offered at weekends. I would be prepared to quit my job and look after him (I am in the UK and my dad is in the Republic of Ireland), but one thing that really worries me is hurting him or causing more fractures when helping him get around.

Not sure what to do. This is breaking my heart to see him like this.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
