My father inlaw is 76 and been diagnosed with malignant prostate cancer which has gone into his bones. (Only just found out so have no further details) He had bowel cancer 2 years ago which he got through.

I would like a reality check of what is to happen so i can offer my wife all the help and support she will need over this period.

Any help will be appreciated.

If you go to an oncologist, they will almost certainly put him on hormone therapy, like Lupron or Flutamide, etc. There are some methods to extend life expectancy with PC, like certain supplement, grape seed extract, isoflavones, etc. If you want a complete list, email me. The oncologists don't tell you everything, unfortunately.

After the initial biopsy my father inlaw has been advised that the cancer has spread to his bones and cant be cured but treated.

What should we expect to happen?

I personally know men that had bone mets from 10 years ago or more and are still alive. The difference that I have seen that increases survival are good health changes, losing weight, exercise, low dietary fat, and taking certain over the counter supplements. That is what I'm doing as we speak. The worst thing anyone can do, is to give up.
