Nice to meet you Trudy. I wish you and Bill the best possible surgery. I know the anxiety that it can cause. I have spoke with Bill some as my husband just came home today from surgery.
Will be thinking of you both and have you in my prayers. _________________ Mary

Bill had surgery today but not removal of left upper lobe as planned. A lymph node hiding behind the aorta proved cancerous and the surgeon decided that to be sure of getting it all the entire lung would have to be removed and that Bill couldn't tolerate that. Next step consutation with an oncologist to decide about chemo and radiation. Will keep y'all updated.Bill did come through surgery well. He (and I) are disheartened about the spread to the lymph nodes and he is understandably upset to have endured the pain and trauma of the surgery for naught but he hasn't given up yet. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Trudy and Bill,
Damn!! I'm so sorry and upset to hear this news. Poor Bill --- what a low blow to have this surgery and not be able to accomplish what was intended.
It will be Plan B now, but he sure didn't need the surgical recovery. On the brighter side, at least it hasn't spread outside of the chest area and that is good. (Trying to find something good here to cheer you two up!)
Give him my best and promise that you'll get rest while he's being cared for by the hospital.
Thank you for letting us know. You both will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi, Bill and Trudy,
What a blow! Its a worry to have the surgery let alone to hear news like you have both had. Like PJB says it is good it has not spread from the chest area. Please keep us updated as we are all thinking of you. You are in my prayers, Koik |

Bill is doing well. Is still in ICU but chest tube, epidural, IVs, urinary catheter are all out. He has a good attitude and is in a hurry for healing of his surgical wounds so that he can get on with chemo and radiation therapy. He may get to come home Monday if all goes well and will soon be in here doing his own posts. Thanks to everyone for concern and prayers.

Hi Trudy and soon to be Bill too!
Wow -- Bill's a monster! He's really moving along at a great speed in his recovery. Good for you Bill. Did he have VATS or regular surgery?
I hope you get home tomorrow Bill, but Trudy you need to get rest to be prepared for his coming home. Let's not forget about your care either!
Good luck and keep us posted. You're in my prayers.

Yes, Bill is doing really well. He is coming home tomorrow. He had regular surgery, not VATS.
Hopefully, he will be able to give you all an update himself tomorrow.
Thanks again for all your concern and prayers.

Hey Bill!!!
Good to hear from you and know that they have sprung you from the hospital. Yes, we did miss you! Got a chance to chat with your lovely wife though in the meantime.
You're one bear of a man. I'm glad that you are recovering so quickly with full blown surgery, but sad to know that this was unnecessary. Arrghhh!!
What are you going to do? The doc's do the best they can and unforeseen stuff happens all the time. You seem to be taking it in stride.
Do let us know what the oncologist says. I'm sure you are anxious to get started with some type of therapy. My husband had about a two week wait before his first chemo and he only had VATS done. Maybe it doesn't matter.
I hope you are being kept comfortable and staying ahead of the pain. Don't mess around with that, ya' hear?
Keep fighting!
You and Trudy are in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh, Bill; What a bummer. I cannot imagine going to surgery and waking up with nothing different except an incision.
You sure seem to have a good attitude. Sounds like a good wife also. I was going to keep track of you but until today I have been sick myself. Just wanted to acknowledge that I have read your post now and will continue to have you and Trudy in my Prayers. Best of luck to you. _________________ Mary
