I was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma mid 2005 and underwent CVP-R for 6 cycles which cleared it up nicely. No big deal. Then in late 2006 on a check up and biopsy it was discovered that I had large B-cell lymphoma which was either always there or which was a transformation. It failed to respond to CHOP-R and now I am undergoing two cycles of GDP to see if the large B-cell tumours respond. If they do, I can do a BMT, but if they don't they are not sure whether to try yet another regimen of R-ICE or not. The problem is that if the tumour does not respond to relatively high-dose chemo, studies (Parma) show that it is unlikely that the BEAM treatment used to get to ground zero for a BMT will work either and then the BMT will fail.
My question is whether anyone else has been through this and had to abort a BMT because their tumours were chemo-resistant. What happened next?

Hi,

Of course everybody's situation is different but I was diagnosed with the same thing you were in 2004. The two years of chemo (CVP-R followed by something much more powerful) I went through didn't work and later found out that I was only marginally CD20 positive. Therefore, Rituxan didn't work for me. My follicular lymphoma later changed into follicular large cell lymphoma which is kind of rare. BTW, I'm the one that posted the sticky post at the top of the NHL forum about the Stem Cell Transplant. When I finished the transplant I still had some cancer (tumor) left. I found a fantastic radiation oncologist and he zapped it and to make a long story short I have been cancer free for two years. I had my transplant done at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. I have only good things to say about them.

Also, good luck to you. A positive attitude is everything.
