Hi everyone,
I'm new here and I have some questions. Few weeks ago my mum was diagnosed of cervical cancer. I was really shocked and I cried for few days. I live far away from her and I can't be there to support her. She's only 44 years old and I can't imagine losing her right now or anytime soon..
that's when I decided to join this forum and read everyone's story and also cried about it. I know how awful cancer is but it really struck me when someone that is really important to me has it. I realised that everyone can get cancer.. no matter how young they are.
My mother has refused to undergo an operation. It's really expensive and no one can make sure that it'll really cure her. People around her that are diagnosed with the same thing never get better after the operation. One of them even died. I have no idea why but I guess the doctors are not to be trusted there.. right now shes drinking this plant juice I don't know what's she's thinking but she said it makes her feel better and maybe she'll be cured shortly.
I'm so worried, I can't do anything from this distance, can't pay for the 1000 euro plane ticket.. so I told her to send me the test result from the hospital.
There are two papers
the first one it said
nonspecific chronic cervicitis and mild dysplasia
and the second one said
Keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma well differentiated cervix
anyone knows what they mean? Is my mother's life really at stake now? Please?
thanks and bless you all.. |

Sweetkaran,
I'm so sorry about your Mother's cancer. I will ask and research around the information you need.
Haveing so much distance between you, is dreadful. Where is she, and where are you? Has she got any other Family memebers to support her there?.
Have a read at the other post here, and you may find some insightful information. To help you understand things more, and from your Mother's point of view.
I'll post a better, answers next post. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Hi In,
Thank you for your reply. My mother lives in Indonesia and I'm here in Holland, so it's really far. We have 5 hours time difference which I have to take into account before calling her . She lives there with her husband and my lil bro and sisters. And of course they all support her and stuff but still they can't convince her to undergo the operation.
I'm wondering if anyone in this forum has the same condition with my mother and how do they cope.. because I'm worried |

Inica asked me to read your post and see if I had any information or comfort to offer you. the medical terms you read off are the terms doctors use describing stages the cancer is traveling in. Your mother I'm afraid will not get better on herbal remedies alone. But I am a woman of faith. So in faith I can tell you God helps those who help themselves...surgery, prayer and fighting for a longer time on this planet is what will save her. If money is an issue , which it is for most, there is an organization called Women's Way. I don't know what they can do over in Indonesia but it won't hurt to ask. Women's Way helps Women over 40 with health issues like cancer or heart problems ..etc. I wish I could offer more , only this ..I was given less than a year, I had radical Hysterectomy and part of my bladder removed because the cancer had spread outside of my female organs due to severity, that was over a year in a half ago. I have permanent nerve damage but I am alive I pray that gives you hope..Kat _________________ My Story : http://cancerforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=7371

Hi Sweetkaran, I am very sorry about your mother's health concerns and that the two of you live so far apart. While I am not an expert on cervical cancer, I can help you understand some of the technical language.
1. nonspecific chronic cervicitis = inflamation or infection of the cervix but no cause of the infection cannot or has not been determined
2. mild dysplasia = the cells are slightly different than normal ones
3. Keratinizing squamous cell = not too easy to explain... squamous cell are a particular type of cells that form membranes in many parts of your bodies including skin, lungs, mouth, AND cervix as well as several others. The Keratinizing squamous cell are a special type of squamous cells that contain Keratin... like the skin. What is confusing to me is that I would think that the cervix would have non-Keratinizing squamous cells, but then I do not profess to be an expert on the subject.
4. carcinoma = a cancer type that includes squamous cells
5. well differentiated cervix = noticeably different from normal cervical squamous cells.
All in all, it means that your mother has cervical cancer probably caused by an infection like the Human Papilloma Virus or another virus or bacteria.
I hope this explanation does not overwhelm you or further confuse you.
You and your mother are in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all your replies and support. Ive called my mother and told her to do the second test at a better hospital, also told her to do an echo test. She did that, and we are going to have to wait for the next result. If she indeed feels better after the herbal therapy, this test will prove if that thing actually helps her or not.
I'm so frustrated that she doesn't want to be operated. I don't know how to convince her. It's as if she's been brainwashed by those 'witchdoctors' or something. I think her husband doesn't really want her uterus to be removed either.
It's a difficult situation.. with me not being there.
to Dragonmom.. I'm so happy for you that you won your battle against cancer.. and thanks for the Woman's Way.. but they only help people in the US.. but regardless.. its the thought that count..
bless you everyone |

I'm so sorry, you're having to worry like this and not be able to hold her hand and guide her through all this. And I'm so sorry I couldn't be of any help to you. All I have to offer is my story and my prayers. God bless you all, Karan, Kat _________________ My Story : http://cancerforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=7371

I'm sorry, all i can advise is offer her the information- correct information.
And then be there, support her, what ever her wish- forget your beliefes and wants and support her.
This way you wont hold grudge or resentment, if anything does go wrong or down hill for her.
Just value her decision and be there, as much as you can- And by being there, i know you are away. So just be there in spirit and support. _________________ Thinking of you Inica
