Im new to this forum, did a google search! Anyway my work colleague who just turned 61 was told last thursday she has a tumour behind her pancreas and onto her liver and is now waiting to speak to a surgeon.

I have looked this up and by the sounds of it she may already be into stage 4 although no one has said anything about stages as her doctor just said it was very serious.

In september my colleague starting complaining about back pain, she thought she had just moved the wrong way or something. She has had various blood tests since december and was told in january she was mildly diabetic. She had a scan as she was told she also had fibroids but then was sent for an MRI which showed the tumour.

She isnt eating at all and has been given ensure drinks to have but is only managing one a day. She has not had a bowel movement for over a month, her urine is quite strong and there is a very strong smell coming from her mouth.

She thinks she will see the surgeon next week, although she has not had an appointment and he will tell her she will get an op, chemo/radio therapy and she will be back to work in a few months. I dont think she will get an op.

Looks like a book I have written but better to put everyone in the picture. I am under no illusions as to what the future holds for her so any thoughts/comments anyone has would be much appreciated.

neela, I am very sorry about your co-workers pancreatic tumor. Have they actually done a biopsy? Without a biopsy, they cannot be 100% sure whether the tumor is benign or malignant.

Pancreatic Cancer is very serious and need to be treated very aggressively. Even then, her prognosis is poor. I do not know how close you are to her as a friend. If you are involved with her outside of work, I would encourage you to find quality in whatever time she has left... with aggressive treatment she could live 2 years.

You and your friend are in my thoughts and prayers.

Crying or Very sad Hello there,
this is my first time on the forum. My name is sam.
My dad was diagnosed with stage iv pancreatic cancer 2 weeks ago. It has spread to his liver and lungs. He was told he has a few months to live.
He doesn't have any pain but is pale and weak and doesn't eat much food.
He hasn't had a biopsy.
My mum is trying to build him up with Ensure drinks and it seems to be working.
I want him to do the telovac trial at Christies Hospital in Manchester. Has anybody got any experience of this trial?
I am hoping my dad will see an oncologist in the next few days as he hasn't seen one yet.
He is so scared of hospitals!
