My sister is 43 with a husband & two small children (3 & 5yrs), she has just started secondline chemo (Topotecan) as firstline carboplatin plaxitacyl chemo was totally ineffective. She was diagnosed last June with an endimetriosis cyst the size of an orange, this was removed with an ovary, then she had a hysterectomy, then she had firstline chemo - ineffective. She has been juicing, has tried a spiritual healer a homeopath has taken up yoga again and basically trying to live a healthy existance but in the last two months, she has had her stomach drained twice, her cancer has grown, she has a blood clot in her leg, she has lost 4 stone and is utterly weak. Her chemo was postponed because a leeson was blocking her bowel, I believe it has moved as she has started secondline toptecan chemotherapy (highly toxic -aren't they all). I have just read Bernadette Bohen's book The Choice and I believe that my sister is doing everything that she can to live, her oncologist is one of the best in the world (luckily), but I still fear for her existance, there has never been any good news, it has just got worse & worse. Is there anyone out there with any advice, has any ever beaten this evil thing, it just seems to be totally tenacious & evasive and why is it happening to someone so young. My sister was a beautiful, blond six-foot english rose (she still is to me )and now her skin is grey, her stomach is bloated, as are her legs, she is so weak she can hardly walk, how can she cope with this chemo? She has always been mentally strong and I'm sure this is helping her, but she is so demoralised. I'm ranting, but my heart is breaking, is there someone out there with an amazing story I can tell her?
