Hi everyone.
I am a new member. I am 58 years old. Live in the UK
Have just had a PSA reading of 11
Doctor said highly likely that it is Cancer. (75%)
Have yet to have a Bi-opsy to determine definatively. Or which type.
My question is. I have pains down my left leg (through to my big toe) very similiar to Sciatica.
This has been going on for about three months.
I do suffer from Sciatica from time to time which usually lasts for about a month.
Done some research on the internet and Metastatic Prostate Cancer worries me. Compression in the spine can occur which would pinch the Sciatic nerve??????????
I have looked for information re the detail of lower back pain in Prostate cancer in vain.
Seeing my Doctor in a few days re this (sciatica) at his request.
I like to have as much info as possible no matter how possibly unpleasant!

I'm surely not a doctor, but from my intense research it seems unlikely that you would have advanced bone metastisis with a PSA of 11. That said, a PSA of 11 is serious and you do need to get more info asap. A biopsy would be at the top of my list, and a free PSA test as well as the std. PSA test. My Dr. gave me a bone scan and full body CT scan as part of my diagnostic workup. With my PSA at 4.8, it really wouldn't have shown anything anyway, but it did give me great peace of mind which can be priceless in this fight of ours. Hang in there, and do push the system as much as possible to get treatment asap.

Take Care
Paul P.

Hi Paul.
The process has only just started for me. Have had symptons for a while
I should have a bi-opsy within the next two weeks. (Doctor is arranging it)
My Doctor is experienced in Urology, fortunatley.

Thanks for Reply.
Tony

I agree with pthree02 that it's highly unlikely your leg pains have anything to do with prostate cancer, with a PSA of 11. However, you are correct to take the situation otherwise seriously. Sounds like you're following up the way you should.
Best wishes.

Hi Madron,
I had a PSA of 12 and my biopsy showed cancer throughout all samples. The cancer is contained within the prostate(remarkable as that sounds!!) and I have just finished hormone therapy and now am 1/4 the way through radiation.
After you get the results of your biopsy should you have any further questions on proposed treatments please let me know as I would be happy to help should the need arise. Dave

A big thank you to all of you (pthree02, replicant and acedave3) for your help and support. I have now an appointment with a consultant on the 29th January. Will keep updating.
The Internet is a wonderful medium when one can receive so much (and hopefully in the future give) support from all over the World and find out so much information when needed.

Yes it sounds like you have nerve compression of the lumbar section of your back that is probably what is causing your leg pain.

Iv'e had 3 back surgeries and had to have an implant to stabilize my spine so I could do some of the normal things in life, right before all that happened I came down with a case of type II diabeates and then right before I was found to have PC I got a real good case of RA.Now all that has really fried my taters. Now that all my radiation is done and all my insides are well cooked I do a lot of watching TV and sitting around #issed off at the world.

Good luck with your outcome of whatever type treatment and choice of treatment for your lower back. One thing is bad enough but when you have more than one calamity seems like we may have made someone mad Shocked Laughing Laughing Laughing

One can only wait and see what the final outcome will be.
