and she's going through a lot of stuff in her life and I haven't really known her for all that long but she's talking about going away and being in an induced coma for treatment... I've never heard or something like that before... I mean, she's got infections and stuff and has been doing chemo and radiation and i'm really really really afraid to not believe her but at the same time, i'm not sure if what she's talking about is even plausible... help???

Hi - I have never heard of such a thing, and I suspect she is just expressing what so many people on chemo feel - that they wish they could shut off and let everything happen, but not be there to suffer the side effects.

Just smile sweetly and agree it's a good idea.

She apparently took a air med plane to a hospital in a different state and they did a BMT already and now they're going to put her in a coma for a long time so they can treat her and she wont be in pain...

I guess i'm hestiant to believe her cuz I grew up with a friend who was a chronic liar..........

She may be referring to deep sedation.

I too have never heard of someone being placed in a medically induced coma for all kind of cancer treatment. That does not mean that your friend is lying to you. Like Vee said, she may just be talking about a deep sedation so that she will not be in pain. I am interested to know what the exact treatment is. Is it surgery or chemo?
