Hi all

I wanted to share the amazing day I had yesterday with my 2 boys.

Firstly, I have been doing peritoneal dialysis for the past 2.5 years, through a catheter in my tummy. My kidneys failed in 2005. Well, miraculously this year my kidney function started to improve & by July this year my renal doctor told me to stop dialysis! I had 11% renal function 2yrs ago & now it's up to 26%. I've been on a hospital waiting list for the past few months & finally last week I had the catheter taken out. I had to wait a week before I could swim (I haven't had a decent swim in the surf for nearly 3 years).

Yesterday we drove for a little over an hour to a beautiful beach on the Sunshine Coast in Qld.

I swam all day & took a blow up surf mat (I haven't used one of these since I was a teenager) & was really "carving up" those waves. My boys (especially my 13 yr old) was so ecstatic to have me back in the waves with him.

It wasn't just the fact that I could swim/surf again, the day was amazing in so many ways. I felt like my Dad was with me there (he passed away 14 Feb 06). The day was so carefree & joyful with me & my boys. I even took the boys out behind the breakers to the smooth swelling waves & held them up & lifted them up over the crest of the waves. My Dad used to do this with us as kids. We spent alot of time at the beach when we were younger.

As I said I was carefree for the whole day & could feel my Dad's presence the whole time. I didn't have a worry in the world. It felt fan "bloody" tastic!

I'm really looking forward to my next trip to the beach this summer. Thankyou God for an amazing day!
Cheers, Aussie Angie.

Yaaaay! a great day for a great person.

WOW it's amazing about the renewal of your kidneys! The boys would have loved to have their mum out there, making the moves on the surf. Very Happy

One great day with more to come.

Angie, I am glad you had a fantastic day at the beach Smile. It is cold here and I wish I could be at a beach in a warm country Very Happy. It sound like you and your family had a wonderful, relaxing day off. I imagine that is great for your health, at least your mental health Wink.
