Ok i know this is going to sound sorta stupid, but a couple of months or so ago i noticed two small circular pink which look like patches above one of my breasts. *stupid part is, i should have gone to the Dr sooner* anyway, today after taking a shower i noticed them more today and it looks like another one is coming in beside them. I am pretty much freaking out. I already suffer from panic disorder and i an trying to keep myself calm. I did call about an hr ago to see if i could make an emergency appt but they told me i have to call back tomorrow morning, (this is without asking or telling them what the problem is) so i have decided to go to the emergency room later this evening when a friend can go with me. I have looked online done some research to see if i can get any ideas on what skin cancer would look like or even feel like. I do see things stating it should be raised, what i have looks and feels flat, they are perfect circles, and very little dryness to it. It does not itch, feels a bit uncomfortable when i touch it, but that could also be from me touching it on and off. It isn't ringworm, i would believe that would have grown larger by now and would be itchy. I am pretty nervous right now, and i am wondering if anyone has anything similiar or could tell me if this is some sign of skin cancer. I am faired skin and i hate the sun, so i don't sunbath, about 10 years ago i did go to a suntanning salon about 2-3 times and that was it. Other then that i haven't done anything to tan my skin. Any help would be Greatly appreciated, even sites i can look at as well. Hugs, Melinda |

Do the red patches on your breast feel warm to the touch, like it's feverish? I'd call the doctor back and tell them what's going on. It could be something as simple as an allergic reaction or an infection, but it also could be a form of breast cancer, called Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I would definitely go and get it checked ASAP. I'd go to a GYN or a surgeon who specializes in breast cancer. Again, it VERY WELL could be ANYTHING but Breast Cancer, but you don't need to wait. I don't know that an ER would have doctors familiar enough with IBC and many times they will treat you with antibioditics instead of doing a biopsy. Of course, I haven't seen what the patches look like, so this is just based on the little bit you've told us, but definitely get to a doctor.
I can relate to anxiety problems, which got worse after my dx, but it's been 5 years and I'm doing great. The word Cancer is scary as H***, no doubt about it, but putting off getting checked, IF it is cancer, is just giving it more time to grow and possibly spread.
Please let us know what you find out.

I agree with Nancy, especially about the ER visit. It is very likely that they will only schedule you for a doctor's appointment anyhow. I don't think they will try to diagnose it without consulting a specialist.

 Hi everyone, i didn't want any of you to keep wondering what happened with the Dr's visit. So here it goes, it turns out i had a skin infection, which i was told everyone has this in their body, But not everyone will get it and it usually appears more during the warmer weather. I was pretty relieved, though for about 25 mins waiting for the results after they scraped it with two blades i was pretty much freaking out.I couldn't stop crying even when they told me it wasn't cancer.I guess it brought back memories of my father as well who died three years ago from colon cancer. They checked me from head to toe to make sure there wasn't anything else. I am also posting this so if anyone else ends up with the same thing (description etc on what i originally mentioned) they could also be aware it could possibly be something other then cancer.
For anyone who wants to know what the infection is called it is:
Tinea Versicolor. And it isn't contagious. My prayers will always be with everyone on here that is dealing with any type of illness, Many Hugs, Melinda |

Keep being pro-active in your health and always get answers. Most of the time, it's something easily taken care of, but always better to be safe and know. |
