Just wanted everyone to know my brother - Mark had a clear MRI last Thurs. It's a bloody miracle we are all thinking & don't know how long it will last. Neuro Dr didn't say much except MRI last Thurs "no sign of a tumour"! My brother hasn't had any cancer treatment since before debulking surgery 6 wks ago. He hasn't walked since either. Has been having rehab & only last Fri went to do hydrotherapy & lifted his left leg in the pool. He has since lifted his left leg laying on the bed so we are hopeful that intensive hydroptherapy will produce better results than rehab! He & his wife are now talking about their trip to Mexico & brother isn't going to get too excited yet until his next couple of MRI's are tumour free. Has anyone else had remission with GBMIV & has it lasted any length of time? Brother has been drinking "juice" from Western Australia made from aboriginal bush medicine (scarce as rocking horse poo) & sorry I don't know the name of it. It was bought to his attention by old school chum living in WA & had heard of a person with cancer (not sure if brain cancer) being successfully treated with bush medicine & in remission for quite some time. My brother drinks a cup or more a day, lots of prayers from family & friends, he blesses his bald head with Lourdes holy water each day & as I said hasn't had any mainstream cancer treatment for nearly 7 weeks. Anyone have an opinion or experience with similar I would love to hear from them. Thanks all for your prayers & support. Cheers, Angie.

Great news, Angie!! I am so glad for your brother's clean MRI. There is a thread somewhere in this forum with stories about long term GBM survivors. Look up that thread and add Mark's story to it.

As for recurrence, I am afraid to say that the odds are against any long-term remission. However, the key word is "odds". You do not know how long YOU will live. You might die before your brother does! So make the most out of this time you have been given!

My prayers and thoughts continue with you and your brother.

Hi Angie, Glad to hear your brother's MRI was clear. My partner 44yr was diagnosed May 06 with GBMIV in right temporal. Had surgery and they removed it all then had six weeks of low dose chemo and radio then 6 mths chemo. This was suppose to be quite a high dose but he had bad reactions to it (very low white cell count) so they kept him on a low dose for the six months. Has had an MRI every 3mths since and is still clear (only slight scarring from operation is showing). He had very little effects from all of this and is going strong. We think in terms that it won't beat us and untill an MRI shows us otherwise we will not let it rule our lives. We live each day as though it is our last and enjoy life to its full. Hope your brother continues to improve and we can talk for years to come on their ability to fight this terrible disease. Take care and chat to me whenever you want. Jen Very Happy
