Hello, i have a friend just diagnosed with AML, he is 25 and just started chemo, i am aware of how damaging this can be, but there was no alternative as it is very advanced, he has now got no mature white blood cells left so is isolated and his bones are all swollen cos of the high blast count, how can i help his body deal with this nutritionally, without interfereing with the chemo. Iknow antioxidants r a no no cos they benefit cancer cells.

anyone tryed L-theanine, zeolite, oxy-e, or others with success?

I want to help him now, and also give him best chance of avoiding relapse through natural supplements and fitness

any ideas???

anxious1,
The safest thing is a balanced diet. Herbs can contain compounds that may interfere with active treatment. Worse case scenario, the chemo and herb cancel each other's beneficial effects. If your friend isn't being treated, then trying herbs seems reasonable. In any case, work with your team of doctors so everyone is informed about what medications and herbs are being taken. Good luck.

Hi anxious1,
During my chemo and radiation therapy my doctor helped me identify a long list of vitamins to add to my diet. Like Dr Lee suggested, the best source of advice is your friend's medical team. Have your friend ask the medical team for help in determining what else can be done to help him through chemotherapy.
