Hello everyone,
This is Allen Zhu from China. I am a oversea sales in China , so I can speak some English. Hope it will also help me rescue my mother.
My mum got Brain Glioma and send to hospital one month ago. Now, after survery , the hospital said the situation is very dangerous, then there need a radiation treatment. But even after all these treatment, the hospital said, my mother have few days to live. I spend all my money to rescue my mother. But the hospital still say so. Anyway, I will never give up.
I would like to know whether there is some good drugs for brain glioma. I would like to sell my house and pay for it. Also hope everyone here can give me some suggestions. Thanks!

Allenzhu,
Unfortunately, brain cancers are difficult to treat. Part of the reasons is that it's hard for chemotherapy to get into the brain. Treatments that have been studied include temozolomide, carmustine, carboplatin, and only a few others. Overall reponse rate is modest. Consider a clinical trial and you can find them at clinicaltrials.gov for US trials. I'm sorry about your mother situation. Best Wishes,

Hi,

I am sorry to read about your mother. My name is Hong and I am a Chinese in USA. My wife was diagnosed with a brain tumor 5 months ago.

Is your mom diagnosed with Grade IV glioma (glioblastoma) or Grade III glioma (anaplastic astrocytoma)? Make sure you get the correct diagnosis: Grade III tumor had slightly better prognosis. In either case, your mom will need radiation therapy together with temozolomide (Temodar). You need to find a hospital in China that provides Temozolomide. If it is not available, you may try to contact the manufacture, Schering-Plough, to ask for the drug. Schering-Plough ghas an office in Shanghai. They may have more information on how to get Temozolomide in China.

Schering-Plough (China) Ltd.
Shanghai Schering-Plough Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
25/F Hai Tong Securities Tower,
No. 689 Guangdong Road,
Shanghai 200001
China
Telephone: +86 21 6431 1100
Fax: +86 21 6431 1112

To be honest with you, high grade glioma is very difficult to treat, but we are ll fighting on. Temodar is the first choice, but it only works for about 50% glioblastoma patients. The patients with a defective MGMT status will have better response to the drug.

Here is a few websites that I visit frequently, where you can get more intruductory information on brain tumor:
http://www.virtualtrials.com/
http://home.comcast.net/~iaa/index.html

The Virtualtrails web site suppors a yahoo group [brain-temozolomide]. I am a member of the group. We exchange experience there.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hong
