Hi, I'm 17 and have been in remission from Hodgkins Lymphoma for 3 months now. I'm a bit worried it might have returned and wondered whether anyone could give me any advice.

I had both chemotherapy and radiotherapy where I lost hair under my arms, however during radiotherapy I only lost it under my left arm. A few months later though when it was growing back I lost all the hair under my right arm. Could this be due to the cancer coming back in my armpits? I've looked on the internet and it says that hair loss is a symptom of Hodgkins but I didn't have it before.

Also, I've been very tired recently and have no appetite. I keep feeling my neck for swellings and although I think I feel lumps, it may be that I'm being paranoid because my mum can't feel them.

I've spoken to my oncologist on the phone and she said that the hair thing was nothing to worry about but I didn't say about the other stuff. Hopefully it is nothing but I know something's not 'normal' and it makes me wonder.

Any advice would be welcome,

Thank you,
xxx

hey lorz25!

i am 17 too and i was just diagnosed with HL a week ago..

since you are having some symptoms and don't feel well, its best that you go for some tests just to be sure. that must be really scary for you, but hopefully you are just paranoid about it and don't have it. Also, your body has been through so many things in the past year, that you may notice a change in your hair growth and diet.

I hope all goes well, and if you have any advice for me as a newly diagnosed patient i would greatly appreaciate it!

lorz25,
I agree with summerlover55 response. It's unlikely what you describe is related to a recurrence; however, cancer is cancer. A re-evaluation by your team of physicians would probably be the only way to be more defintive about answering your questions of recurrence. Best Wishes to both of you.
