Mother in law has stage IV lymphoma that has moved into the marrow. They have used the nastiest most powerful chemo before the stem cell and instead of the tumors shrinking 2 more grew within 2 weeks of chemo. They can't do the stem clell but are going to try radiation. My hubby is not taking it seriously because she has been through so many rounds of chemo and come out fine. I think it might really be serious this time. From what very little info I can get out of her she told me today that by the end of the week she would be paralyzed from the waist down. The tumors are in her spinal column. She keeps telling us she is fine but I need to know if this is as bad as the research online makes it sound or if I should trust her and believe things will be fine and not worry.

Hi, I also have stage 4 hodgkins. My case is most likely different then your mother in law since I am 14 years old but I will tell you whats going on for me. I had a cough and swollen lymph nodes and went to dr., sent to oncologist that afternoon and it was confirmed 2 days later. That all happened maybe a little more then a month ago. It was in my bone marrow and everywhere else but my brain, I had had it for a year before noticing symtoms. I started ICE chemo a week after diagnosis. Did ok on it and went away for the weekend. I got a headache and the er did an MRI. It was in my brain and spine. So like her it spread on chemo. I am on high dose methothraxate through a lumbar puncture everyday and will soon start radiation to my brain and spine. I don't know if that helps but good luck. Also, for more info you can read Kid with swollen lymph nodes thread, it follows me from thinking on my own I had cancer, being told to go to dr. and now.
