Hi,

My 79 year old father was just diagnosed with terminal cancer. If he sticks with the chemo he's got about 18 months left.

I think I'm coping ok, but my husband (who lost his mom to cancer) says I need to be in some kind of support group.

Why does he feel you need to be in a support group? Is there something he is perceiving that is not evident to you?

It can be really helpful if there is a problem to have people to bounce ideas off, but if you are on top of the situation and are coping with matters, it's really what you want and need that is important.

I think just because it was helpful for him. He's not the type of person you would expect to go to one either. I think he went to make his mom happy and now he's really glad he did.
