Hi,

I am 37 and currently nursing a 3 y/o. A week ago I thought my right nipple was sore from nursing, but it's really just sore.

my areola is slightly swollen and if you pinch my nipple, it's thicker between my fingers then the other side which is basically just skin on skin.

it hurts like hell, but is not red at all and doesn't bother me unless touched kinda hard or sucked on. I feel fine otherwise.

It came on suddenly.

Anytime you have something that is not normal for you, you need to pay attention to it and see your doc. Hopefully by now you have some answers. I was just wondering if it could be mastitis or a blocked duct, due to nursing? Whenever you have pain, that is your body trying to tell you something, as pain is not a normal body function. Seek medical advice. Please let us know how it turned out. Wishing you the best outcome.

Get it checked out ASAP.

The sore nipple may possibly be a sign of soft tissue cancer that cannot be found on the mammogram.

This is a very fast spreading type of cancer and the sooner you get diagnosed and treated, the better your chances are of survival.
