My mum is a single parent, i have no brothers or sisters and my granparents are dead, i do have aunts and uncles though i do not feel like i could talk to them about this.

My mum has a numbness down the one side of her body and stumbles a little sometimes when she is walking and has been referred to a neurologist. The neurologist didn't know what was wrong with her and wanted x-rays of all of her joints and her brain but they cannot do all of these x-rays in the one day so have put a referal through for her to get an mri scan. They said she should get an appoint in the nex 2-3 weeks for her scan.

When i was on the computer yesterday i had a really bad headache which was affecting my sight so i googled brain tumour to see what the symptoms were and i was shocked to find that to of the symptoms were the ones my mum had. I don't know whether to tell her what i found out or not but i dont want her to be worried whilst waiting for her scan if i tell her this, because when she told me she was having an mri scan i said to her does that mean you have cancer and she just laughed and said no. But if i don't tell her she will want to know what is wrong with me because since i have found out about these symptoms i have been crying alot and this is all i have been thinking about and i am really scared and worried. I am still at school and can't imagine losing her

Dear Life, I can understand your dilema, but right now I wouldnt say anything to your mum. Wait until you get a proper diagnosis, as there are many other complaints that could be causing her symptoms.

I wish you both luck and hope that whatever is causing your problems is easily sorted out.

Best wishes, Jen xx

Life,
I second the things Brunette said. She is so right. It could be something very different than brain cancer. I would work to get the MRI as quickly as possible--for your own sake as much as your moms. I know the uncertainty is one of the biggest stressors in this whole thing.

I wish you the best and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Google is both your best friend and your worst enemy...

As others before me have already said, wait until there is a proper diagnosis before drawing your own conclusions. There are many, many reasons that will cause those symptoms that aren't brain tumours....

Best of luck.
