Hello, I am a 34 year old woman. About a year ago I noticed a mole on my back, in between my shoulderblades. It was probably always there but defiitely not as big. It is oval shaped and about half a centimeter. It was a dark brown color and raised a bit as well. I know it wasnt always so big because prior to having my first child(almost 4 years ago) I used to always wear backless shirts and I'm sure I would have noticed it. Anyhow, I did have my family doctor take a peek about 6 months ago and he said it looked fine and that I could have it removed for cometic reasons if i wanted but I didnt give it a second thought. About a couple of weeks ago, I felt that it kind of felt like a scab, i don;t remember it feeling that way before. So I've been feeling it every night and when I looked at it last night I noticed that the one edge seems to be a lighter shade of brown(beige). Anyhow, at my 2 yr olds pediatrician appt. today i asked the ped. to take a quick peek again and he said I should have it looked at because of teh color change. I have made an appointment but in the meantime I am quite scared that it's cancer. Do moles change color and become scabby and then turn out to be benign? And when they say the cyre rate is great if caught early, it this early, although it's been there awhile, but just started to my knowlege to change in the last couple weeks. The family doctor said it was fine 6 months ago. Anyhow, a mother of 2 that has already been thru more health scares imaginable, I am praying that this turns out to be just that, a scare. Any advice would be appreciated. I will add that I've had a mole on my breast for as long as I can remember and it has not changed color or shape or form. TY in advance and God bless.
