Hello

If you are talking about breast lumps, benign nodules are usually stable in size, or grow very little. Benign nodules do not normally develop into a malignancy. Malignant nodules are usually malignant from the beginning.

regards,
Leo

Hi. Tee, Dr. Leo has given you a good answer to your question. I would add that ANY lump needs to be checked by a doctor. A biopsy is the only sure way to tell if something is cancerous or not. Good luck. Hope you got the information you needed. Lauri

totally agree. all lumps must be checked by your physician and a biopsy is usually needed to rule out malignancy. usually mammogram can tell cancerous lesions if there is abnormal calcification too, but some cancer (invasive lobular carcinoma) are usually quiet on mammogram.

you can read

for more info on breast cancer and its diagnosis.

good luck,
