My brother just brought home his new baby and the day after found out he had cancer.
The diagnosis is stomach,liver,kidney,spleen,lungs

The doctor said they would do chemo so they started IV aggressive on liver/stomach in one week he was in verybad shape, legs blew up 3 times normal could not walk and fluid build up heavy. Due to all this they postponed chemo. He was put on oxygen to help breath

All happened in 3 weeks. Then last week end we had baptism for baby, as I helped dress him ( I am his older brother 51, he is in western Pa. I am in Detroit. He had a siezure, I was able to "get him back" and he wanted to go to baptism which we did then rushed to hospital. I thought minor set back so headed home, then got call to come back...long story short they ICU said he has cancer everywhere....terminal did not see anyway to treat his oncologist said basically same on Monday ...

I had to make decisions and finally we moved him to the Donnell House ( Hospice 1 block away)...he was off all meds

MY question is ...am I doing the right things here? Should I push him back to CHEMO? should I get a second opinion? His blood pressure was 60 over 50..but since he got off all the meds and could move around he has been more stable etc...

I just want to do the best for him...ANY HELP ANY HELP APPRECIATED? Thanks Kevin

Hi Kevin, although I have no advice for you I did want to send you hugs and prayers. My mom is fighting esophagus cancer and the ups and downs are like being on a roller coaster. I am so sorry for your brother and his family. Cancer is a horrible disease and so unpredictable. What works for one person may not work for another. Some fight and win and some don't and it seems there is no rhyme or reason. Look in your heart to make the tough decisions and never, ever look back with regret. No one knows what tomorrow will bring for any of us. Unfortunately what we have is today. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you regarding what to do. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Blessings, Debi

Monday as I dove the 350 miles to see my brother I knew he was waiting...and 5 weeks to the day after he found he had cancer....I stepped in his room at 11:03 am and told him, I am here, all is fine, I hug, Dad, Mom..Kissed him and told him he did everything right..then hugged his mother in law, his wife and his 5 weeks old baby...then went back Kissed him again and said I would walk Amber down the aisl..and he passed away....

Pray for all that have families that need our love and hope....Kevin God Bless my baby brother.

I am so sorry for your loss Kevin. I will pray for you and your brothers family. What a beautiful thing for him to know that you'll be there to walk his little girl down the aisle. There are no words I can say to comfort you at this time. Stay close as a family and take turns being the strong one. Wishing you strength at this time, and someday, peace.
Blessings, Debi

Kevin,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

There is no manual on what to do in these situations. Trust that you did the right things. You are obviously a very loving and caring brother.

Hugs to you and your family.

Sheri
