it was confirmed by the ct scan, my melenoma is back in my lymph node, right shoulder, this is the 3rd time
the chemo starts next week, terrified but not giving up. this disease has to be fought with everything, both convential methods ( chemo and radio), natural ( i'll give anything a chance if the research is there) and what you put into your system, i have only understood the importance this time, i had the initial mole, the size of a small finger nail that became itchy and changed colour, it was at the base of my neck - top of back area and was removed and had 13 stitches, did not understand the reality of melenoma,i was in my late 20's, at that point i was told no further treatment was needed. started to get on with the life i was living, about 2 years after that a lump the size of a pea was noticed, by me in my left shoulder, started growing very quick, the drs referred me to the hospital and it was a while till that was taken out, by then it became the size of a tennis ball, surgury and radiotherapy ( it had spead to my spine, at the top half of the spine, and started chemo, but the worst happened and it went lower to my spine and caused spinal cord compression, in a wheelchair, was numb from my belly button area to my toes. was put on a combinations of 3 different chemos and had to hope for the best, stats not that positive at stage 4/5, it worked and slowly it helped and i started to wiggle my feet, and then at the end of the 6 months that i was on chemo had another scan and it had all gone into remission, before i had deposits lungs, liver, kidney, spine, above my ear, and it also came back around where it had been taken out the second time.
the pain never went away in my back but pain managment helped, and i moved back in where i had been living and slowly got stronger, now this is the 3rd time that its back and next week the process will start again, this time i have more knowledge about the disease and how to fight it, same dr that got me through the time before, different treatment, also i am going to change what i eat because that can help, and am looking into natural methods.
i'm still deciding on the natural ones, many out there and what works with one person does not set the standard, but when doing research they can also help with chemo side affects is good news. |
