I'm calling the dermatologist first thing in the morning, but from what I've read on the internet so far, the moles that I have on my back are very suspicious. My husband told me a month ago that they didn't look right, but last night one of them itched and I felt it and it was very scaly and some of the crusty stuff came off and looked grey/black. The area around one of them has been itching me consistantly for weeks. Anyway, hubby says that one of them is bigger than a pencil eraser, one of them is long, not circular, but the borders are even for the most part. They're all two different colors...mostly light brown and grey specks. Very itchy and scaly.

Anyway, hopefully the dermatologist can get me in soon to take a look but I don't have a good feeling.

My question is...could these moles possibly still be benign?

sorry i'm so late in replying. been a rough few weeks

Yes, these moles could very well be benign. Even being predisposed to melanoma does not automatically make every weird-looking mole malignant (thankfully!)
