Hey All

This is my second time posting.

I have had a couple of raised nodes on the right hand side of my neck for ages - 6 months +. I have been to two GP's and they have both felt the nodes concerned and advised me that I have nothing to worry about. The lumps are small (maybe about the width of the end of my finger c. 1cm - not visible to the naked eye) and they move about. I was also assessed by an oral surgeon who diagnosed a reactive node - again nothing to be concerned about.

I don't have any other symptoms.

Two questions:

1. What size does a swollen node have to be before a doctor will get concerned?

2. Is it normal to have constantly swollen nodes?

3. If I really want closure on this scare what test should ask the doctor for to finally put this to bed? Ultrasound, biopsy?

Thanks for all your help folks.

Sean

Forget the blood tests & ultrasound, won't show anything conclusive. Have a surgical biopsy (not needle biopsy) with flow cytometry pathology at a lab that has the specialized equipment & staff to accurately do diagnosis, such as DFCI, Mayo, Stanford Univ, Mem Sloane Kettering, etc... If the node(s) are small they may be very difficult (immature) to diagnose, but don't give-up, don't take 'no' for an answer. You need a oncologist/hemotologist with experience in Lymphoma. Time is your adversary & friend. Do it now.
