my wife just finished 6 months of treatments for that disease. we know it can't be cured but hoped the treatment could make it be in remission for a while. now we know that there is still cancer in her liver. the doctor isn't sure what to do next. we will get another opinion but i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. what does it mean in time and progression if the treatment can't make it go away even for a while?

TapIn,
My Dad is in his 3rd month of chemo/radiation for extensive small cell. We have also been told that there is no hope for a "cure", but possibly can extend his life and make him more comfortable. Dad's has not progressed to his liver as of last week's CAT scan, so we are pleased about that.

To answer your question, I know we have been told less than 1 year and closer to 6 months. I wish there were better news and I wish you the best in getting another opinion.

I hope your wife is in no pain. My Dad has never had any pain and for that we are very thankful!!!!

Deb

Thanks, Deb. My wife isn't suffering with pain - just exhaustion from the chemo. She's able to get around and out some - even work some. This is pretty terrible. Best wishes for your Dad's response to treatment.
