I know we are fairly new here and may not know each other really well yet. I just wanted to take time to wish any of our boardies who may be Jewish a Happy Hanukkah (which begins on Wednesday). This is a season when most people regardless of their faith take time to wish for peace and goodwill among all people. I think we need such wishes especially this year. May we all know the joy and love of family and friends. Best wishes and good health to all, Lauri (a Norwegian Lutheran) _________________ Diagnosed 4/11/1996

Hi Hollis, glad you decided to post.
I have an annual mammogram, and fret a lot until the post card comes saying everything is all right. I do regular breast self exams. It's hard to tell what's under the skin where I had lumpectomy. I've had a second biopsy in the same area, and there is scar tissue from the surgeon mucking about to make sure nothing else was there. I see my PCP (primary care physican) annually and get a lecture about how I need to lose weight (tell me something I don't know ), and I see my oncologist once a year. He has blood drawn for a series of tests he calls a "cancer panel." So far, in eight years, nothing is amiss. That's about it. I take meds for underactive thyroid, an antidepressan, a low-dose diuretic to help with blood pressure, Lipitor for my cholesterol (genetically elativated) and Fosomax for my thinning bones. Other than that, I am all right. Hope you are having a good week. Welcome to the board. Hugs, Lauri _________________ Diagnosed 4/11/1996

Lauri,
I am working on the weight thing too. I need to lose 40 pounds and I am finding more and more research to support diet as an aid to keeping bc away. I see you are on a lot of different pills for different things. I don't take anything right now because I am so afraid of the potential side effects from drugs that have not been on the market long enough to know what bad effect they may have. I heard on the news all the time about new things coming out about drugs we all thought we good. It seems to be about the money.. these drug companies a rich, rich, rich. It also bothered me that chemo studies are often funded by drug companies which further scares me with regard to trusting the results. We will all just hang in there and keep trying. Keep me posted on your status.
Blessings of continued bc free results. Ann |
