Leo, I had this idea to do exactly what your are doing only locally. Please tell me if you think it would work and if I should go ahead a place fliers at the different cancer venues. My flier reads:

HEAR MY VOICE
A FORUM TO HELP US AND THOSE WE LOVE LIVE WITH CANCER IN A POSITIVE WAY FOREVER
Please contact Audrey Darrow at wdbinternational@yahoo.com if you are interested in attending a forum for men and women living with cancer. I am surviving breast cancer after having gone through the battle in 2003 and have yet to find a place to have my voice heard, to hear from oncologists regarding treatments, to teach people in the medical community what breast cancer really does to our lives, to have our families finally understand what we are going through and to be able to be in a 100% positive atmosphere where I can laugh, learn, help others and feel close to others in the cancer community. Support groups are good for many people, however, I am someone who likes to speak out to people to motivate them, help them understand that there is hope, that cancer is truly a gift from God to teach us and to help people speak out to others to have their voices heard.
Many women suffer in silence and do not get the support that is needed to live through this difficult illness and I would like to start a speaking forum that will start out monthly. This will be a place where people in the cancer community can come for discussions, information, learn the resources available and just a place to come and relax, feel good, make a new friend, share our difficulties and triumphs with others and learn to take life one day at a time and enjoy every breath we take.
If you have interest in attending one of these forums please send me your name, telephone and email address and as soon as I have enough interest I will set a time and a place in San Diego for us all to attend. The fee will be nominal so that everyone can afford to come. I will ask for a $5.00 contribution to cover rental of a place to meet and refreshments. If any of you have any ideas to include in this forum please send them to me. As I wait to hear of your interest I will begin my search for people of influence to speak at the forum. If you know of any oncologists, surgeons, plastic surgeons, politicians, movie stars, corporations that might sponser us, gynecologists, rheumatologists or any other people of influence that can give us important information regarding our health, make us laugh, listen to our stories, share their own stories of cancer and captivate our interest in any way then please send me the names and I will contact them all to join us in the future. I hope that all of you who read this feel like I do and wish to have your voice heard.
