I (52 y.o. ) have been referred to a breast oncologist next week. I have a mass in my right breast which is suspicious as it is attached to the overlying skin. It is firm and movable, no spiculated edges to palpation. I have had the mass 2.5 years, another story.

The finding of affixation almost always indicates malignancy. I would like to know if there are any other types of breast cysts/tumors which attach to underlying and overlying structures.

I'll settle in later this afternoon and catch up on the forum. All the best,
Veronica

Hi Veronica, I can't answer your question. Hopefully, Dr. Leo will respond to you. I just wanted to welcome you to the board. I am sure you will find comfort and encouragement here. I'll keep my fingers crossed for benign findings, but we will be here for you regardless. Please keep us posted. Hugs, Lauri

Hello

Welcome to the board. There are other possibilities, including melanoma and other skin cancers. Breast cancers with extension to the skin can also happen. I am sure your doctor will want to diagnose it with a biopsy. We will be here if you need us !

best regards,
Leo

Leo,

A huge thank you for your contribution to the community.

The mass was present long before the skin involvement which should r/o skin cancer. And it has no features of melanoma, etc.

My question is can a simple cyst or fibroadenoma attach to the overlying skin?

Thanks!

Veronica,

I think it is unlikely that a fibroadenoma can attach to the skin, since this is a benign, movable sort of tumor.

regards,
Leo
