Hi all,

My mother was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma - Stage II A. She started off her treatment (R-CHOP) about 3 months back. At the time when the treatment started lymphadenopathy was found in multiple lymphnodes. The largest one in size was about 5 cm. After 3 courses of R-CHOP, the disease is now localized to just one lymphnode of size 2cm. At this point a decision has to be made to either go for the 4th course or change the treatment to radiation. She had some bad side effects from chemo. Out of all the chronic ones ulceration in digestive track and numbness of toes and finger tips etc were relatively severe. I know according to the standard NCCN protocols, 3-4 cycles of chemo should be followed by the radiations but what determines if it should be 3 OR 4 cycles. Is radiation only used to consolidate after when CR is achieved through chemo therapy? Or can be given at any point during the treatment? what is more advisable? At current stage of the disease i.e. with one lymph node 2 cm in size, would it be advisable to stop the chemo and start the radiation?

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
