I just wanted to present this for those who may not be aware. New studies are showing that immflamation ("the silent killer") has been linked with cancer as well as heart disease and other serious problems. While immflamation in the body is good sometimes too much can be harmful. Sometimes the body produces too much immflamation. Here is an anti-immflamatory diet that may go a long way in the treatment of your cancer. (Note: this is material collected from various resources on anti-immflatory diets). I hope and pray this helps someone:
Things to avoid: corn, safflower, soy and peanut oil (all high in omega 6 fats - which are bad. instead use high quality olive oils (which are rich in oleic acid and anti-imflammatory omega 9 fats); avoid milk, cheese, yogurt, red meat, brown & white flour (I whole grain wheat bread), bran, dry roasted nuts, all peanut products, sugar, syrup, processed honey, coffee, tea (use herbal) cocoa, salt, pepper, vinagar, butter & margarine, chocolate, citrus, dairy products, red peppers, tomatoes (as well as all other "nightshade" vegatables & white potatoes. Note: chocolates, cookies, snack bars contain pro-inflammatory vegatable or hydranated fats. From what I've read peanut and red meats are the worst things for inflammation.
Foods that help with a healthy anti-inflammation response:
Increase intate of coldwater fish such as salmon, mackeral, herring, tuna, trout (these contain large amounts of omega 3 fats). Just 2 or 3 servings a week is recommended because of their mercury content. Also use fish oil pills to get additional omega 3s. Cook fish in olive oil with some of the herbs listed below.
Use herbs insted of salt & pepper. These 5 are recommended: basil, oregano, garlic, ginger (which can be purchased in cryralized form as well - I get mine from Nature's Outlet where they sell it covered with a little cane sugar), & rosemary. These herbs provide small amounts of anti-inflammatory flavinoids and low doses of natural safe cox 2 inhibitors.
Vegetables: These are said to provide the most diverse selection of antioxidants which temper inflammatory reactions and also protect fats in the body from inflammation stimmulating oxidation. Dark green leafy veg are the best (spinich leaves). Also, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, collard greens, broccoli cabbage and brussel sprouts.
Fruits: apples, berries (blackberries, strawberries, rasberries, kiwi, peaches, cantelope
Nuts & Seeds: (these are rich in omega 3 essential fatty acids and high in vitamin E). Unsalted nuts like walnuts, brazil nuts, almonds. Unsalted seeds like sunflower seeds (which also contain zinc which is helpful in healing wounds), linseeds, and pumkin seeds (also contains zinc).
Grains: lentils, chick peas (garbanzo beans), brown rice and whole wheat bread.
Note: deficiencies in zinc, vitamin A & C can delay wound healing (I take about 1000 mg of C a day and get Vitamin A in spinach leaves). Also deficiencies in minerals such as calcium and magnesium can aggravate muscular pain (I believe spinach leaves also contain calcium).
I've read that the effects of this diet take a few months to notice. I recognize everyone is different but I noticed a difference in just about a week and more each day thereafter. It may seem there is a lot you can't eat, but being pain free is worth it all. Not to mention you lose weight along the way.
Again, I hope this is helpful to someone. Also, I am not a doctor so do your research.
