I recently had my yearly check up and a lump was discovered. After a mammogram and a breast ultrasound, i was told it was a calcification. My doctor said good news and that was that. Now i am reading more about this and i am finding that maybe more should be done. Maybe a biopsy, or more tests.
Anyone know more about calcifications? Should i leave it be as my doctor suggested or get a second opinion?

Hi Deb,

I would definitely get a second opinion! Did they say if their findings were micro-calcification,calcification or what exactly do You recall? I'm not sure if that might not be the reason for the none chilant attitude-but to be on the safe side,if it's anything to worry about,it's better to find out early than late.Besides You will probably sleep better at night if You are satisfied with the information You recieve-You know that You've check all avenues, and all possibilities are exhausted.

Try not to get to frazzled, just go through it methodically and everything will fall into place. Wink Keep us posted we're here if You need us, You can never ask too many questions. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

I would get a 2nd opinion. Your gut, from what I'm reading, is saying something isn't right, you're not comfortable with doing nothing else.

Microcalifications can cluster and be malignant. This is NOT to say that yours are, but me personally, I would want them removed and biopsied, because that's the only way to be sure.

I was told everything was fine, not to worry, it was a cyst. I couldn't relax about what I was being told and you'll see my bio below. Thank God I went with my gut.

If yours end up being B9, then we'll all celebrate with you and you'll know for sure. There is no point of putting yourself through so much anxiety, regardless of what the results are. If it's nothing, fantastic. If it is BC, catch it early and put the surgery/treatments behind you.

Please keep us posted and praying for B9
