Two months ago I was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer. it all came as a shock as I had only gone to the doctor with to query a bit of blood that passed with a Bowel Motion.. Thinking it was just an Anal Fissure, but my Doctor decided that since I was over 50 she would send me for a full check up... and a little over 2 weeks later after as colonoscopy, CT Scan and MRI .. The diagnoses was given and 2 weeks later I was in hospital having surgery..
The tumor was in in lower rectum so to assist healing I was given a Ileostomy Bag which is temporary, which I am learning to deal with, the scar is healing, but one thing I am having real difficulty with is the discomfort and the feeling that I want to pass a Bowel Motion...
I'm into my 4th week since surgery, the doctor tells me this is normal , but the discomfort is so intense that only pain relief will assist...
Has anyone got any advice on how to handle this...

At this stage I am not sure if I have to have Chemo or not.. All the tests came back that the cancer had not spread, We are now just waiting for the histology results from the surgery

I was feeling pretty good until this happened, I really thought something else had happened and was pretty scared when it happened for the first time

Hoping someone can help???

Hopefully someone else can help as I don't have an colostomy or ileostomy bag but ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) and I read at another site that the rectum still produces mucus that needs to be expelled at some intervels with a colostomy bag, do you think it could be that way with an ileosotomy bag also? You might want to ask your Dr. or maybe someone here can answer that question also.
